Old Resident Of City Dies At Hospital--Michael McCue, Stone Mason, Passes Away This Morning. The Grafton Sentinel. Grafton, WV. Jan. 2, 1926.
Excerpt--age 63, stone mason and pioneer resident of Grafton died at the Grafton City Hospital today following an illness of double pneumonia. He had been ill for a week. He underwent an emergency operation a week ago and on Monday night developed pneumonia. For two days he had lain at the point of death. Mr. McCue was born in Grafton, on Dec. 17, 1862, and was the son of Michael and Catherine McCue. He has been a resident of this city all of his life. Since a young man he had engaged in stone masonry work, laid foundations, and helped to construct some of Grafton's largest and best buildings. Many of the stone walls on Grafton's hills were laid by him, a number of which have lined residents fronts for more than fourty years. He is survived by four daughters; Mrs. George B. Reed, of Fairmont, Mrs. W. T. Brown, of Grafton, with whom he resided, Mrs. H. F. Bennett of California, and Mrs. Arthur Montgomery of Florida; two sons, Clarence E. McCue and Roy McCue of Grafton; four brothers, John McCue of Oakland, Md., James McCue of Coffman, Joe McCue of Grafton and Charles McCue of Elkins; and two sisters, Mrs. George Johnson of Cameron, WV, and Mrs. I. F. Robinson of Grafton.
