Slats featured in the Goldwyn Pictures logo of the early 1920s. It was designed by publicist Howard Deitz. The lion and the graphics were adopted by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1924. Images of Slats are now rare. In post-1928 reissues of MGM silent films, Slats's introduction was replaced by that of his more familiar successor, Jackie.
