John Croddy Rites Friday
Clarksburg Area Resident was 84
Funeral services for John B. Croddy, 84, Clarksburg, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Moster & Sons Mortuary at Rushville with the Rev. Pauline Karns, pastor of the Clarksburg Pilgrim Holiness Church, officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery in Rush County.
Mr. Croddy died at noon Wednesday in Memorial Hospital here, where he had been a patient for nine days. He had been in failing health the past several months.
He was born in Franklin County Sept. 2, 1883. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Croddy.
His early life was spent in Franklin County but he had been a resident of the Clarksburg community for many years. He was a former employee of the Milroy Canning Company, retiring several years ago.
He was united in marriage Dec. 4, 1939 with Mamie Reeve, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter by a previous marriage, Mrs. Kelsey (Ruby) Baker, Hamilton, Ohio; four stepsons, Donald and Melvin Crawley, both of Greensburg, Roy Crawley, Connersville, and Raymond Crawley, Coldwater, Ohio; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation at the mortuary in Rushville began at 4 p.m. Thursday.
