Esther Danielson, age 86, of Mentor, MN, passed away on Friday (January 9th) at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday (January 13th) at Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor with the Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. Interment will be in Faith Lutheran Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Monday (January 12th) and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, all at Faith Lutheran Church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine.

Esther Laura Gross was born on December 18, 1922 in Alberta, Canada to parents Adolph and Christina (Rudel) Gross. She moved as a young girl with her family to North Dakota where grew up and attended school.

Esther was united in marriage to Raymond Danielson in1946. After their marriage, they lived in Fargo, Devils Lake, Jamestown and Rolla, North Dakota before moving to Tower, Minnesota. Raymond worked as a well driller and Esther stayed at home caring for their children. In 1959, they moved to Mentor, Minnesota. While in Mentor, Esther continued to raise their family in addition to working odd jobs in the area. Raymond passed away in 1976. Esther worked for Green Thumb, cooking at the Mentor school and for senior meals. She did this for 20 years until her retirement in the early 1990's.

She was an active member of the Bethel Bible Church in Mentor. She was also active in Royal Neighbors, the Mentor Senior Center, and was a regular attendee for years at Wednesday night bible study.

Esther liked playing bingo, riding her bike, search word puzzles, and playing cards and board games. She also liked watching Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right. She was always a person that stayed active throughout her life and was constantly on the move and ready to get some work done.

Esther passed away on Friday, January 9, 2009 at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine at the age of 86 years and 22 days.

Survivors include five children, Roger of Mentor, MN, Donna Grove of Crookston, MN, Barb Danielson of Crookston, MN, Bev (Courtney) Nelson of Mentor, MN, and Jody "Stubby" Danielson of Winger, MN; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Also surviving is one sister, Margaret Kuske of Jamestown, ND; two brothers, Kenneth (Alice) Gross of Alexandria, MN and Wesley Gross of Fessenden, ND and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Lawren and infant, Robert; her parents; two sisters, Edna Krueger and LaVern Arndt; and one brother, Donald Gross.
