Ludvig was the oldest son of Anders Dass Kristianson and Margrethe Haas Larsdatter in Nesna, Norway. He came to the US in June 1887. He married Augusta Abrahamsdatter Johnson about 1892 in Minnesota. Between them, they raised 6 children. Ludvig was always an indifferent farmer, and worked for the railroad whenever he could. He visited the Tacoma area in the late 1920s and decided to move here.
