Norton, Va, March 19.- D R Bishop, superintendent of the Stone Gap Collieries Company, at Glamorgan, seven miles north of this place, died this morning at si o'clock. Mr Bishop has been suffering for several days with rheumatism and grip, but his condition was thought not to be dangerous until yesterday, when he took a sudden change for the worse, developing a high temperature, and expired this morning.

Mr Bishop was 52 years of age and leaves a wife. He was one of the most prominent coal men of this section and one of the most popular with his employees. The remains will be taken to Oxford, Ohio, for burial.

Attended preparatory department of Indiana University. Graduate of Wabash College, Class of 1879. Member, Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Worked as superintendent of the Stone Gap Colliery Co.
