James was the son of Richard Hayes Bradford and Sarah Ann Bradford.

He married Rosa Ella Killingsworth, February 22, 1899 in Lawrence County, Alabama.

Prominent Flat Rock Citizen Illness Victim

John William Bradford, 63, of Flat Rock community was a victim of pneumonia at his home friday morning, Jan. 17. He was sick only four days.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Rosie Bradford, Mt. Hope, Rt. 2; four sons, Olin, Emmett, William, Russellville, Rt. 4; Walter, Mt. Hope, Rt. 2; six daughters, Mrs. Elsie Summers, Mrs. Aylene Fretwell, Landersville, Rt. 1; Mrs. Bessie Boyd, Mrs. Bertie Portwood, Town Creek, Rt. 1; Mrs. Jewell Johnson, Miss May Lynn Bradford, Mt. Hope, Rt. 2.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at Old Bethel Church by Rev. W. H. Swearingen. Burial which was in the church cemetery was directed by Spry of Russellville.

Mr. Bradford was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. He had served 35 years as Justice of the Peace in his community.
