He came to America in 1860. In 1863 he entered Eden Seminary which was at that time located at Marthasville, Missouri. He was ordained at St. Charles, Missouri on May 25, 1868. His first charge was St. Jacobs church at Richfield, Wisconsin. He served churches at:
Lorraine, Illinois
Douglas, Iowa
Sigourney, Iowa
Boeff Creek, Missouri
Old Monroe, Lincoln Co., Missouri (1894-1898)
Burksville, Madison Co., Illinois
Black Jack, Illinois

Jan 1895 he started baptizing babies at St. Pauls UCC church in Old MOnroe.

In 1876 he was married to the widow of Rev. Franz Wolff. Her maiden name was Catharina or Caroline Wilke of Buffalo, New York.

Rev. David Kurz had an aged brother who lived in Gilman, Illinois and an aged sister who lived in Elpaso, Illinois.

He preached his last sermon on October 22 and died the following Friday morning October 29th and was buried on October 30th.

Rev. Kurz was the first pastor at St. John's Church, near Waverly, Iowa which was organized in 1874.

Rev. D. Kurz was the second Pastor of Ebenezer Church and was installed on November 29, 1885 and served nine years until October, 1894.

Rev. Kurz served St. Paul's Church in Old Monroe from 1894 to 1898.

Congregational Meeting Of St. Pauls Church, Jan 1, 1895, "It was also decided that the new Pastor, D. Kurz, who was in occupational training in Franklin County, Missouri, had moved here in the first week of November and was presented to the congregation by Pastor Schrodell from Troy, Mo., that his travel expenses shall be paid in part. The previous pastor, Chr. Irion, had moved in September 1894 to Morrison, Missouri). Many of the people present donated $1 and some donated 50 cents. Every family in the congregation shall give a free will offering. The meeting was ended in the afternoon about 4 o'clock with song and prayer." D.
