Rites Held Sunday For Earl Coalson At Hillsboro

Funeral services for William Earl Coalson, well known Sierra county rancher, were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hillsboro. Rev. James Abernethy of the First Baptist Church of this city officiated. The services were held in the Hillsboro school which was filled to capacity and over, with a large number remaining outside during the services.
Florian Mazurek presented an accordian and vocal solo of "Just A Closer Walk with Thee" and "Rock Of Ages".
Coalson, 61, died Thursday Dec 3 in a single car accident 20 miles southwest of this city on state highway 90. He was born April 17, 1903 at El Paso, Tex. He was a member of the Episcopal Church. He was also a member of the Sierra County Sheriff's Posse, Hillsboro Fire Department and an associate member of the Truth or Consequences Fire Department. He was a member of the Sierra County Democratic party and served two terms as County Commissioner of District 2.
Coalson had been a rancher in Hillsboro area and a resident of this county for 49 years.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs Edna Coalson of Albuquerque, his widow, Mrs Mae Coalson of Hillsboro, a daughter Mary Ellen Snell of Albuquerque, five grandchildren; one brother, Lacy Coalson of El Paso and two sisters, Mrs Mary Hanson of Lake Tahoe, Calif and Mrs Ruby Nave of Los Lunas, N.M.
Burial was conducted at the Hillsboro cemetery under the direction of Harold Kingston of French Mortuary. Pallbearers were David M Nunn, Bill J Clark, J. W. Sullivan, Emmitt Faulkner, Emory Faulkner and Vernon Cunningham. Members of the Sierra County Sheriff's Posse served as honorary pallbearers.
Hundreds of floral pieces were received for the funeral service and graveside from friends of the Coalson family.
