Born in West Virginia, he was the son of John W. and Florence G. Guy. He worked in coal mines most of his life and was an engineer at Smither's Mine when he registered for the draft on June 5, 1917. He lived in Menallen, Pennsylvania in 1930 with his family. In the 1940's, George worked for the Hillman Coal and Coke Company in Chartiers Township while living in Redstone. George was married to Ella Guy and was the father of Florence and Cora Guy.
