Flora H. Mockel, 89, of Moon Township, formerly of White Oak, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, in West Hills Health and Rehab Center in Coraopolis. Born Aug. 27, 1919, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Katie Rose Weimer Houk. She was the wife of the late Wilbur D. "Web" Mockel and sister of the late Irene C. Houk Yoho, Elma Luella Houk Cole, Ethel L. Houk Mann, Kathleen S. Houk, Clifford G. Houk and Donald Ray Houk.

She was a member and retired secretary of Sampson's Mills Presbyterian Church, the Tuxis Class, Lydia Circle and the Senior Fellowship of the church. She was a past member of the church and bell choirs. She was an avid bowler and golfer.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Robert Peterson of Moon Township; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Cindy Mockel of Daphne, Ala.; grandchildren, Wade Derek Mockel and Lindsey Joan Mockel; sister, Gladys Idalene Houk Walker of Ellwood City; and nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Jaycox-Jaworksi Funeral Home, 2703 O'Neil Blvd., McKeesport.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Sampson's Mill Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bruce Byers, pastor, officiating. Everyone should meet at the church.
