Son of Herbert and Ferol (Adams) Elliott. Served as a private in the 96th Infantry Division of the 383rd Infantry. He was killed in action at Okinawa, Japan.
The 96th division has been highly decorated and honored for heroics in battle and suffered heavy troop losses. This division was known as the "Deadeye Division" for its highly trained sharpshooters.
On Dec. 31, 2001, Army General Order No. 29 confirmed the U.S. Army Award of The Presidential Unit Citation for Heroic Service during the Battle of Okinawa
