Charles Lee Duncan Jr.

Charles Lee Duncan Jr., 84, of Independence Boulevard, Christiansburg, Va., formerly of Pipestem, died early Friday morning, Dec. 5, 2008, at the Montgomery Regional Medical Center in Blacksburg, Va.

Born April 11, 1924, in Dublin, Va., he was the son of the late Charles Lee Duncan Sr. and Mary Emma "Bessie" Cooper Duncan.

Mr. Duncan was a former owner/operator of a sawmill on Lick Creek at Pipestem for many years. He attended James Chapel United Methodist Church and Jordan Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Duncan had worked all of his life, was devoted to his family, and was an avid squirrel hunter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary Isabelle Crotty Duncan; along with three siblings, Merit Cooper, Sherman Lee Duncan, and Nancy Lee Duncan Lucas.

Survivors include two children, Barry Keith Duncan and wife Jane Astin of Christiansburg, Va., and Beverly K. Duncan-Edleman and husband Daniel of Raleigh, N.C.; and a granddaughter, Danika Isabelle Edleman.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton, with Pastor Tommy Mounts officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton.

Friends may visit with the family today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
