Fred was the 7th of 11 children of Adam & Johanna Kramer Gross, both German Immigrants. His siblings were Frank, Louisa(Koll), Mary(died as a baby), Joseph, Aloyis, Katherina(Schleier), Mary(Zimmerman), Josephine(Jacobs), Gertrude(Miller), and George. Fred married Mary Ahlers in Jan 26, 1904 in Earling, IA. They had 8 children: Odelia(Watkins), Frank, Victor, Johanna(French), Freda(Ward), Reno, Clare & Harold. Fred & Mary farmed in Iowa before buying a farm near Comstock, Wisconsin in 1918 and later to a farm near Turtle Lake.
