Dorothy Scott Bartelson, 94, formerly of 1601 Teal Road, died at 4:20 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at St. Anthony Healthcare.

She was born in Oxford on July 28, 1914, and was the daughter of the late Emory H. and Dora Mae Scott. She graduated from Oxford High School.

Her marriage was to Allen Bartelson in 1936. He died in 1987.

Mrs. Bartelson was a homemaker and worked at the Richard B. Cross Printing Co. of Oxford for 10 years and Benton Community School Corp. for six years.

She was a member of the Oxford Church of Christ, where she taught fourth grade through junior high Sunday school for 38 years. She was a partner of the Salvation Army and a member of the DAV Commander Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Dorann Newhart (husband: Norman) of Lafayette, Leslie Williams (husband: Michael) of Titusville, Fla.; and a sister, Fern Swim (husband: Marion) of Oxford.

Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Craig Hess (wife: Cyndi) of Lafayette, Rheagen Williams of Florida, Colter Williams of California; 3 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Alyssa and Kaitlynn Hess; 2 stepgrandsons, Todd Newhart (wife: Amanda), Karl Newhart (wife: Brenda); and 3 stepgreat-grandchildren, Hunter, Morgan and Evan. Preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Schwamberger (husband: Roy); and a brother, Lloyd Scott (wife: Mary).
