Floyd R. Beadles, 82, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday evening, Nov. 25, 2008, at Barton W. Stone Home in Jacksonville. He was born May 23, 1926, in Wessington, S.D., the son of Jesse and Mary Parker Beadles. He married Martha A. "Mickey" Walsh on Jan. 8, 1949, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Murrayville, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 11, 2004.

He is survived by four daughters, Chris Durocher (husband, Robert) of Jacksonville, Patti Febus (husband, Jim) of Madison, Wis., Jean Shaw (husband, Dr. Steve) of Jacksonville and Cindy Thomas (husband, Albert) of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren, Robin Schmidt and Ryan Durocher, both of Springfield, Matt Febus and Todd Febus, both of Madison, Wis., Mike Shaw and Jill Shaw, both of St. Louis, and Emily Brown and Sarah Thomas, both of Beardstown; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Febus; three brothers, Lloyd, Raymond and Ernest Beadles; and two sisters, Lorena and Alice Beadles.

Mr. Beadles was a graduate of Jacksonville High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 76th Infantry where he was awarded a Purple Heart. He returned to farm in Morgan County for many years. He was a member of the Our Saviour Parish and a former member of the Jacksonville Elks and Moose Lodges.

Services were entrusted to Buchanan and Cody Funeral Home of Jacksonville, Illinois.
