Chippewa Falls News from The [Chippewa] Herald:
Mrs. John Crandall received a telegram from her son, William Crandall, stating that her grandson Elmer Crandall had died at Edmondton, Northwest Territory [Canada] from pneumonia. Mr. Crandall learned of his son's illness some time ago and hurried to his bedside, but arrived five minutes too late. The deceased was 21 years old and was born at Badger Mills.
Per the History of Northern Wisconsin, published 1881, Badgers Mills (originally called the Blue Mills) was a small settlement on the Chippewa River. Badgers Mills was located 6 miles south of the "falls" [Chippewa Falls]. This would now be western Hallie, Chippewa County.
