Born to William and Elizabeth McClendon in Thomaston, GA on August 8, 1938, he died November 19, 2008 at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, UT.

Joined US Army on his seventeenth birthday, served honorably for twenty years, faithful Latter-day Saint.

Survived by wife, son and daughter, and three grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on November 24, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in the Utah Veteran's Memorial Park Chapel, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, UT.

He belonged to the Special Forces Association Member #(M-11130) Chapter 70 - UTAH. He retired from the U.S. Army with twenty years of service. Serving with 1st SFG, Okinawa, 2 tours SVN. He received Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal with 2 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars with 1 Silver Service Star, Combat Infantryman Badge. He was interred with full military honors at Utah Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bluffdale, Utah 24 November 2008. He is survived by his wife of 49+ years, a son and daughter, and 3 grandchildren. Member of Chapter LXX of Salt Lake City, UT.
