James Izat was born Aug. 15, 1926, in Airdrie, Scotland, son of James and Christine Watson Izat. He graduated from high school in Scotland. He served with the Gordon Highlanders in the British Army.
He moved to Canada in 1951 and to the United States in 1959.
He married Maureen Charles, a native of Aberdeen, Scotland, on Dec. 10, 1955, in Brampton, Ontario. She died April 23, 2006.
Mr. Izat retired in 1987 from the design department at General Motors, Massena.
Mr. Izat was a member of the Massena Country Club and a former member of the First Congregational Church in Massena. He was an avid golfer and photographer and enjoyed reading.
