Alachua, FL. Mr. Julian W. Beckham, age 87, of Alachua, FL., died Monday, December 24, 2007 at Haven in Gainesville after fighting cancer for over a year. He was born in Hawthorne, Fl July 17, 1920 to the late Robert L. and Thelma Grant Beckham. Mr. Beckham was with the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II, proudly serving his country. After the war Julian worked with his brother-in-law at Florida Pest Control for 21 years before retiring. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, building bird houses and other things. He was an active member of Santa Fe Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother and sister, Frank and Aldine, his son, Delly Beckham, he is survived by his wife of 21 years, Leona Witt Norris Beckham, Alachua, FL, children: Sue Chesser, Alachua, Rob Beckham, Newberry, Kim Timmons, Newberry and Joe Norris Hawthorne. Sisters, Margie Sapp, Brooker, Bobbie Alverez, Ft. Meyers, Irma Hales, Gainesville, Sandra Cannon, Bell. Grandchildren, Ryan, Justin, Malissa, Sara, Wade, Clay, Hannah, Wyatt, Evan, Lance & Lyal, Great Grandchildren Nine.
The family will receive friends at the Milam Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St. on Wednesday evening from 5:00 - 7-00 PM with Funeral Services on Thursday morning at 11:00 A.M. at Milam Funeral Home Chapel, 311 S. Main St, Gainesville, FL. Burial to follow in the Hawthorne Cemetery.
The family requests in lieu of flowers contributions be made to either his church, Santa Fe Baptist Church, 7505 N.W. CR 236, Alachua, FL. 32615 or to Haven Hospice, 4200 N.W. 94th Blvd, Gainesville, FL. 32606.
