Funeral services for Gordon Donald McKinley, 89, of Hawkins, will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, at Holly Lake Church of Christ in Holly Lake Ranch with Bill Holt officiating. Interment will be in the Chilton Cemetery in Big Sandy. Arrangements are under direction of Croley Funeral Home in Hawkins.
Mr. McKinley passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014, at his residence.
He was born in Big Sandy on Dec. 23, 1924, to the late L.G. and Lucy McKinley. Gordon graduated from Big Sandy High School and attended TCU. He married Myrtle Sue Revill on May 21, 1945.
Gordon was a beloved member of the community. He spent his life loving and serving his Lord and his family. He once went to Russia on a mission trip to teach God's Word and when asked to fill in as a preacher in his 80's, he gladly accepted.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, the love of his life, Myrtle Sue McKinley, of Hawkins; two daughters, Rita Chaney and husband Howard Chaney, of Hawkins, Judy McKinley, of Mineral Wells; one granddaughter, Susan Moser and husband Blake Moser, of Tyler; one grandson, DJ Blake and wife Wendi Blake, of Mineral Wells;
eight great-grandchildren, Scarlett Moser and Camille Moser, of Tyler, Alyla, Kaylia, James, Haley, Graci and Lillee Blake, of Mineral Wells; one sister, Dora Stratton, of Tyler; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Bag-gett, of Big Sandy; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Billie Sue McKinley; and two sisters, Gracie Paige and Hazel Barkley.
Pallbearers will be Michael Baggett, Jim Baird, Dr. Ronald Barkley, Wayne Davis, James Johnson, Chad Lee, John Potter, Jimmy Shipp and Ricky Shipp.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Gorman, M.L. Kirby and Leon Loveless.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Croley Funeral Home in Hawkins.
