Mrs. Charles Byrum, 72, of Blakesburg, died Wednesday January 11 at 8 p.m. at the house of her daughter, Mrs. Merle Hayes of Libby, where she had been this winter. She had been ill of diabetes.

Mrs. Byrum and her husband, who is a retired employee of the Hardsoeg plant in Ottumwa, moved to Martinsburg last September from Blakesburg.

Surving besides her husband are Mrs. Hayes and another daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Kelley of Hedrick, and fours sons, Eugene Byrum of Ottumwa, Owen Byrum of Libby, Clifford Byrum of Hedrick and Lawrence Byrum of Seattle.

She was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy and four sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 1: 30 p.m. at the Martinsburg Methodist Church. Burial was in the Blakesburg Cemetery.

The casket was moved this afternoon from the Reynolds Funeral Chapel here to the Byrum home in Martinsburg.

Clara E. Lathrop, daughter of Harrison Tyler Lathrop and Nancy Kerr Lathrop. She was born March 4, 1888, at Bidwell, in Wapello County. She was married in Ottumwa December 18, 1911, to Mr. Byrum, who survives. She also leaves two daughters, four sons, 13 grandchildren.
