Opal Imogene Langston, of Heart, daughter of the late John Allen and Frankie Elizabeth (Mooney) Stroud, was born Aug. 22, 1930, in Peace Valley.

She died on March 5, 2006, at Salem, at the age of 75 years.

Opal was married to Boyce Edmond Langston on Sept. 20, 1952, at Salem, and to this union two children were born.

She spent her working years being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker and farming with her family. Opal was a member of the Heart General Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Terry Langston, and wife, Sandy, of Heart; a daughter, Lisa Langevin and husband, Patrick, of Heart; a brother, Edd Stroud and wife, Pauline, of Heart; three sisters, Ethel Hall of Salem, Stella Waltrip of Salem, and Claudene Newberry and husband, Leon, of Salem; six grandchildren, Laneesa Langston Bell, Michael Eaton, Jeremy Langston, T.W. Langevin, Kelsey Langston and Matt Langevin; four great-grandchildren, Jamie Bell, Mackenzie Eaton, Micah Eaton and Brice Langston.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Lethia Hollingsworth and Violet Hall; and a brother, Loyd Stroud.

The funeral services were held March 7 at Heart General Baptist Church in Heart, with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Interment followed in the Burk's Chapel Cemetery at Heart, with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.

Pallbearers were Bruce Hall, Stanley Hall, Larry Hall, Toby Hall, Ricky Stroud and Freddie Ellis.
