Norma Marshall of Picher, Okla., died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Higher Call Nursing Center in Quapaw, Okla., after an illness. She was 83.

Mrs. Marshall was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Miami, Okla., to Fred and Lily (Adams) Payton. She lived in the Picher and Miami area most of her life.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Rebecca Lodge of Picher for several years and a member of Southeast Baptist Church in Commerce, Okla.

She married Carl Marshall on Nov. 7, 1942. He preceded her in death in 1997.

Survivors include three daughters, Carla Schultz of Dallas, Ore., Linda Smith of Quapaw and Lillian
Smith of Sweetwater, Texas; five brothers, Bob Payton and Frank Payton, both of Fairland, Okla.,
and Fred Payton, Richard Payton and Charles Payton, all of Miami; one sister, Rita Hallett of Miami, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services Thursday, Feb. 7, at Southeast Baptist Church in Commerce. The Rev. Jerry VonMoss officiated. Burial was in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.

Pallbearers were Chris Fleming, Darren Fleming, Brian Smith, Roy Carr, Jimmy Adams and Jason
Freeman. Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren.

Arrangements were under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Picher.
