Alps Allen aka: Absalom Wesley Allen died from a stroke on the front porch of his daughters home Katie P Allen Ward while visiting. He died on his wife's birthday. He was a Primitive Baptist Preacher. He Owned a Black Smith Shop, A Cotton Gin and a General Store at one time.

Fri., August 17, 1923: Plant City Visitor Dies Suddenly A. W. Allen Stricken While
Visiting Daughter, Mrs. James Ward. A. W. Allen of Plant City was taken
suddenly ill with an attack of apoplexy Sunday evening and died four hours later at the
home of his daughter, Mrs. James Ward. Mr. Allen, who was 67 years of age, was
spending a few days here on a visit. His health had not been the best for some time and
he had suffered in the past with high blood pressure, but his condition was not considered
serious and his death was a severe shock to all of his family and friends.
The body was shipped to Plant City for interment on the limited Monday afternoon.
Funeral services were held there Tuesday. Mr. Allen is survived by eight children, four
daughters and four sons. They are, Mrs. L. C. Taylor, Jacksonville; Mrs. John Watson,
Plant City; Mrs. M. L. Pippin and Mrs. James Ward, Dade City; Joseph Allen, Macon,
Ga.; Tom Allen, Jacksonville; and Dave and Samuel Allen, Plant City.

Angina Petoris. Contributory cause as Hardening of arteries and high blood pressure.
