Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, April 1st, in Okay for Joe Phipps, 78 year-old pioneer resident of Okay, who died Thursday afternoon, March 30, 1939, in a Muskogee hospital following complications arising from a tooth infection.
Services were conducted in the Okay Baptist Church with the Reverend E.N. McAllister of Muskogee, former Okay pastor, officiating. Burial was in Three Rivers Cemetery in Okay under the direction of Hersman Funeral Home of Wagoner.
