Son of John Henry and Wave (Dabner) Waterman, grew up in Washington County, KS. Roy had three ambitions, marry his school sweetheart, fly an airplane and live in Hawaii. Married Velma Irene Odger's, his high school sweetheart, June 30,1940, they were together 60 yrs, she died April 4, 1999. His second goal in 1942 when he began flight training in San Antonio as an Army Aviation Cadet, completed training in 1943 and was assigned to the 12 Air Force, Mediterranian Theatre of Operations in Italy. He was then selected regular commission in newly established US Air Force and was engaged in pilot training until being assigned to Kansas Ste University to complete a degree in Business Administration. Roy realized his third dream 1954, when he was assigned to Hawaii as Commander of Bellows Air Force Base. Surviving family members include 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and four children include Charity Bushey (husband Max) of Parker, Colo.; Fred Waterman (Majorie) of San Antonio, TX; Charles Francis Waterman of Kaysville, UT; and John Waterman (Pamela) Mesa, AZ. Roys first priority was his family, he was a dedicated husband and father, he had a creative mind, inquisitive, was accomplished woodworker, amateur radio operator and general tinkerer He was a man of letters, a man of character and he grew great beefsteak tomatoes. He retired in 1970 and moved to Manhatten, KS with is family. There no services, private, inurnment, with family, Washington Cemetary at later date.
