Ada Aften Christensen, 73, of Idaho Falls, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Ada was born March 21, 1935, a daughter of Alvin Edwin Nebeker and Rebecca Bee Bee Rosezelle Runolfson Nebeker. She attended school in Rigby and also attended nursing school. Ada married Barttlet Cordon Whitaker in Idaho Falls. He preceded her in death. She married Dennis Neils Christensen on Sept. 20, 1960, in Shelley, Idaho. He preceded her in death. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and the Icelandic Association. In her lifetime, she enjoyed crocheting, fishing and genealogy; was an avid gardener; and sketched a dress for an inaugural gown that she received a presidential award for. The dress is in the Smithsonian.
Ada is survived by her children, of Shelley, of Idaho Falls, of Eagle, Portland, Ore., and of South Jordan, Utah; siblings, of Opportunity, Mont., of Lost Creek, Mont., of Idaho Falls, of Oklahoma, of Orem, Utah, and of Rigby; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ada was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two sisters and one son.
