Veda Mae Driggers Burkhalter, 89, died Saturday, November 24, 2007, at Glenvue Nursing Home. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville all her life. She was a homemaker, and a member of Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by husbands, Homer Clifton Driggers and Tommy Burkhalter.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Deanna Driggers of Glennville; daughters and sons-in-law: Anna Dean and J. W. Sapp and Martha and Richard Kemp, all of Brunswick; Brenda and Stanley Swain of Glennville; and Dianne Conley and Lewis Waters of Claxton; stepdaughters, Betty Burkhalter of Glennville and Joyce Grice of Hazlehurst; sister, Claudine Sands of Glennville; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, at Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church, with Dr. Rick Cason, the Rev. Richard Kemp, and the Rev. Reuben Cason officiating. Burial was in Beards Creek Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Allen Sapp, Cliff Conley, Keith Swain, Daniel Driggers, Jeremy Kemp, and Jason Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers were Aubrey Sands, Raymond Lewis, Jerry Ray, Juan Driggers, Jane Driggers, Dottie Harden, Marjorie Wedincamp, Marie Dubberly, Annie Bacon, Johnny Driggers, Naomi Driggers, Lonnie Skeens, and members of the Ebenezer Church Adult Sunday School Class.
Remembrances can be made to Glenvue Nursing Home, 721 N. Main Street, Glennville, Georgia 30427, or Ogeechee Area Hospice, P. O. Box 531, Statesboro, Georgia 30459.
