Algerous Grant Bidwell was born on a farm near Pleasant Valley, now Plane City, Madison county, Ohio, July 24, 1861 and departed this life at Holton, Kansas March 11, 1932, at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 17 days.He was the oldest child of Leonard and Sarah J. Bidwell and came with them to Kansas in 1867 and settled near Circleville, Kansas. Was married to Louarie M. Abel of Circleville on September 17, 1891. To them were born four children, Chester C. of Holton, Marvin M. of Topeka, Mildred Irene, who became the wife of Mr. Spiker, and died on October 10, 1917 beloved by all who knew her, Archie L. of the home. Their married life was largely spent in and about Holton. Here the children grew and spent their school days. A few years ago he became the manager of the county farm and served with great credit until impaired health forced his moving to a farm nearby where he has resided until death. He was a kind and faithful manager, beloved by the inmates of the home, and respected by the neighbors and all with whom he dealt. He leaves to mourn his departure, his faithful wife, three sons and a step-son, James Pope of Holton; one sister, Mrs Otis Lasswell of Emmett; two brothers, Delbert of Irving, Kansas., and Elmer E. of Kansas City, Mo., and six grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends to remember his life of toil for those he loved. Good-bye, old friend. May you rest sweetly in your long sleep until we shall meet again. Services were conducted at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Sunday, attended by a large crowd of relatives and friends. True sorrow was in evidence as we laid him to rest. His friend, M. G. Hamm.
