Son of Solomon Joy and his first wife Lucy Newcomb. Henry enlisted in the 16th Iowa Infantry, Company H on 10 Dec 1861 in Davenport. He mustarded in 18 Jan 1862 at Camp McClellan, Iowa. He died of the measles in Feb of 1862, just before camp broke and headed for St. Louis in March of 1862.
