Mike DeMass "Beloved Husband and Father" WEST JORDAN ~ Jack Michael DeMass, 50, our beloved husband, father, son, and brother, passed away July 22, 2006 peacefully surrounded by his family. Mike has persevered in his struggle with many illnesses. He was born September 10, 1955 in Logan, Utah to Jack Louis and Mary Taylor DeMass.

Mike grew up in Murray, Utah and graduated from Murray High School. Mike met Joan Marie Gossling while they were attending BYU and on June 14, 1978 they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for time and all eternity. Mike lead a full and active life. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and earned his Duty to God Award; he served an LDS Mission to the Canada Halifax Mission. An active member of the Cobble Creek 4th Ward, he was a high priest and filled many callings but his favorite was teaching the Gospel Doctrine class. He enjoyed his calling as a temple worker in the Jordan River LDS Temple. Mike attended BYU and the U of U. In his community, Mike took pride in serving the citizens of West Jordan, where he served on the City Council and on the Planning and Zoning Commission. As a professional land surveyor, Mike participated as an officer in many professional organizations related to his profession. Mike loved to water ski and snow ski, and enjoyed watching his children in athletic events and other family activities. Mike had a great love and respect for his wife, children, and extended family, and lived life to the fullest.

Survivors, wife, Joan; children, Jeffrey (Auburnie), Jonathan (Crystal), Bradley, Kathryn, Matthew; parents, Jack and Mary; brothers and sisters, Rick (MuiLeng), Jackie McMillan (Dave), Kevin (Holly), Ron (Judi), Tami Oliver (Eric); also many nieces and nephews. Mike will also be deeply missed by his many friends, associates, and other family members.

Funeral services will be held Wed-nesday, July 26, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the Heritage 4th LDS Ward chapel, 7350 South 3200 West, West Jordan. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Tuesday 6-8 p.m. or Wednesday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
