Obituary Notes
CHRIS BURD
58, died Monday. June 4, 1951 at
T r e n t o n State Hospital, where he
had been a patient for three months.
He was born near Middle Valley
a son of the late Mr. and Mrs John
Burd, a member of a family of ten
children . He was a veteran of World
War I and was a member of the
American Legion Until failing
health caused hi s retirement: he was
engaged in the mason business.
Mr. Burd is survived by a daugh-
ter Mrs. Wilbert Applegate of Cali-
fon. five brothers. Amzi. Orville,
Howard and Preston Burd of Mid-
dle Valley and John Burd of Cali-
fon and four sisters. Mrs. Victor
Wright and Mrs. Harold Lance of
Califon. Mrs. William Clawson of
Lower Valley and Mrs John Tiger
of the Fairmount Road.
Funeral services were conducted
Friday afternoon from the home
of his son-in-law and daughter:
Mr and Mrs. Applegate of Califon.
The James K Cooper, J r. pastor of
Fairmount and Califon Methodist
Churches, and the Rev . Robert L.
Agnew, pastor of Fairmount and
Lower Valley Presbyterian Church-
es officiated. Members of t h e Amer-
ican Legion served as pallbearers,
Burial was in Fairmount Presbyter-
ian cemetery.
