Captain Jokstad's body was entombed in Cypress Lawn Cemetery, Colma, after Masonic funeral services. He was a 50-year member of University Lodge No. 141, Seattle, and of the Knights Templar.

He was commanding officer of a large section of Treasure Island during World War II, a duty he combined with being in charge of security from Kodiak Island, Alaska, to San Diego. He served in the naval militia during World War I.
