WARSAW - Marion Glee Sowers, 84, of Warsaw passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at 3:33 p.m. at his home in Warsaw.

He was born July 5, 1924, in Hancock Township, a son of Charles G. and Effie M. Weeks Sowers. He married Loretta Parkin on Oct. 31, 1948, in Warsaw; she preceded him in death on March 6, 2007.

Marion is survived by three sons, Mark W. (wife, Becky) Sowers of Warsaw, David M. (wife, Patty) Sowers of Riverton and Richard M. Sowers of Incline Village, Nev.; a brother, George Sowers of Rock Island; a sister, Clara Campbell of Carthage; five grandchildren, Jeffrey D. Sowers, Jason M. Sowers, Jennifer K. Case, Stephanie L. King and Mackenzie Sowers; six great-grandchildren, Alex and Bradley Sowers, Brenden and Ryan King, Katherine Sowers and Jack Case.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Loretta Sowers.

Marion attended Hancock Township country schools and Bowen High School. He had farmed for Hancock Land Co. for many years. He had been a member of the Hancock County Farm Bureau. Marion enjoyed fishing, playing cards and winemaking. Marion was a loving father and grandfather and especially loved the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw, with Tom Kraushaar officiating.

Friends may call and meet with the family from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Lamporte-St. Clair Funeral Home of Warsaw.

In lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hancock County Blessing Hospice.
