The second daughter of Jacob and Mary (DeArmond) Hall, Cora Mary (or Mary Cora) was born in Butler Co., OH prior to the family move to Sumner Co., KS where they were residing in 1885.

Cora married Chester C. Cranmer 9 July 1902 in Sumner Co., the couple living on a farm in Osborne Twp. Four sons and three daughters were born to the couple before Chester's death in 1925.

By 1930, son Lester had taken over the farm responsibilities, at which time he was considered the head of the household, with his widowed mother and younger siblings sharing the farm home and duties.
