This entry is made by Find A Grave guidelines; that being, entered by name on the marker - problem is however she has 2 markers, one by each married name.

NOTE: On all her stones the first married name is spelled as HUSTON, not Houston, even though those that are spelled as Houston are immediate family - the variation of the spelling in this family line has caused much confusion on creating entries and/or linking.

One stone reads "Elizabeth Huston wife of Almanzon Huston" but foot stone has "E.A." on it.

Another stone reads as "Elizabeth Austin nee Huston".

Place of birth is either Ohio or Pennsylvania. She fits the profile of Elizabeth Huston in the San Augustine Co census for 1829, 1846, 1850, 1860 but her place of birth varies. She is found in 1870 Cherokee Co census and for first time name is spelled as "Houston", whether a mistake by the census taker or by choice. Cherokee Co is also where her brief 2nd marriage is recorded. The marriage is recorded as "Elizabeth Huston 04 Jul 1876, Cherokee Co, Texas, to I. F. Austin" .... Elizabeth being b. 1805/06 apparently remarried at approx age of 70 and was only married to the Austin man for two years before she died. Ira F. Austin was also from NY as was her first husband.

Per Family Data Collections she & Almanzon Huston married 16 Apr 1819 - believed to be in PA.

Pedigree files show she had 14 children.

Her husband Almanzon Huston b. 1799 (a cousin to General Sam Houston), like her, has a variation in place of birth; sometimes seen as PA, sometimes NY. Per a comment left as a correction on Ancestry "A. Huston was born in Lebanon, Madison County, New York. He married Elizabeth Newton in Erie, Pa. He died in Rocky Mount, Louisiana according to a letter Priscilla wrote to General Sam Houston"

Per the 1860 census which is where he was last seen, he/they were in San Augustine Co, TX. It was always presumed he died there.

NOTE: She is linked to the Austin husband from the brief 2nd marriage, however does anyone know the burial location for her first and long time husband, the father of her children, Almanzon Huston?

NOTE: Almanzon or Almazon or Almanzo Houston's death is noted in September of 1861 in the Louisiana newspaper, as 26th August 1861 in Rocky Mount, Bossier Parish, Louisiana. Actual death record for Almanzon has not yet been found, but snapshot of this news blurb was added to this profile.
