Mr. Votaw died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 23, 1930, in Eudora, the son of Milo H. and Angie Marie Vitt Votaw. He attended Prairie Center, White and Woodlawn schools.
Mr. Votaw worked as a pasteurizer for Lawrence Sanitary/All Star Dairy for 42 years. He worked at the Douglas County Judicial and Law Enforcement Center as a custodian for 10 years.
He married Elizabeth R. Leach on Jan. 5, 1955, in Mexico, Mo. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Lynn, and wife Anna, Lawrence; two daughters, Beverly Gardner and husband Don "Red Dog," and Linda Nelson, all of Lawrence; three brothers, Leslie, Howe, Texas, Ivan and companion Evelyn Hopson, Lawrence, and Merlyn and wife Justine, Quapaw, Okla.; a sister, Darlene Naff and husband Bill, Lawrence; and two grandchildren, Nick and Casey Nelson.
