Found as Susannah in the 1850 Federal Census. She died at her home located four miles northeast of the village of Fountain Green.

My father and mother were John and Dolly C. Harwick. I was born Feb. 7, 1812 in Herkimer Co., N. Y. Was married in the year '31 to David F. Alton.
In the fall of 1833 we started for Illinois, wintered in Wayne, Ind. In the spring came to Illinois where I have since lived, with the exception of two years, In Hancock county. Have four sons and four daughters living. Two babes have passed on to the better land. Have eighteen grandchildren living, and twelve great-grandchildren.
My husband died May 4, '71, As to my religious views, I am a Universalist. With what I have read, I cannot conscientiously indorse [sic] any other doctrine. This is written by myself in '91, I being 79 years of age.
