Ivan Eugene Andrews was born July 10, 1938, in Ruidoso, to Ivan and Reba Andrews. He went to school in Alamogordo. He graduated in 1958. Gene served his country in the National Guard.
On Nov. 11, 1977, Gene married the love of his life and soul mate, Bebe Ellison. Gene, or Geno as he was affectionately called, was an artist, a hunter and an avid fisherman who instilled that love of fishing in all of his children and grandchildren. Gene loved the book of Romans in the Bible. Geno loved to talk and many hours were spent in long conversations.
He is survived by his wife, Bebe, of Imperial, Texas; daughters, Rene Dobbs, Sugree Butler, Debbie Ruebush and husband, Danny, and Lyn Aguilar and husband, Raul; sons, Russell Eaton and wife, Tina, Mike Eaton and wife, Parra, Allen Bruce and wife, Hun, and John Bruce; one sister, Aileen Simmons and husband, Don; a nephew, Duane Simmons; 24 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Reba, and a grandson, William.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at the Tularosa Church of Christ in Tularosa officiated by Matt Carrell. Burial will follow in the Mayhill Cemetery in Mayhill.
The family request memorials be made to Home Hospice of Fort Stockton, or to the Alzheimer's association.
