Francis Marion HOOPES son of Jonathan and Mary Ann BALDWIN HOOPES was born January 16, 1859 at Provo Utah, the second child of a family of eleven.
His father, with his family moved to Bear Lake valley and pioneered the town of Bennington, building the first house there. Later he moved to Montpelier and to Fort Bridger. At the age of twenty-three, Frank as he was commonly known was united in marriage to Samantha Adaline KENT. They moved to Arizona where five children were born and then to Raymond, Ida. where two more children were born. On July 15, 1896 the beloved mother passed away, leaving a family of seven children, the baby girl being only two weeks. Frank successfully mothered this family, until he married Florence Peterson. To this union one child was born. They were married only a short time and were divorced. On Sept 20, 1898 he married Johannan C. Peterson and to this union were born eleven children. About 1901 he left Raymond and moved to Logan for a year and then to Arizona for three years. From there he moved to Fairview, Wyoming where he has loved the past thirty years. He was a farmer and rancher and made a living in various other ways.
He was dearly loved and respected by all who knew him, especially by those who knew him best, because of his splendid manhood and honest dealing with all. He did all in his power to raise his family to be good citizens. Four years ago his health began to fail and since then he has gradually gone down hill until his death which occurred on July 9th.
He is the father of nineteen splendid children, fifty-four grand children and about 22 great grandchildren. Those surviving him are his wife and the following daughters and sons: Mrs Grace Hill, Los Angeles, Cal. Mrs Gracia Benson, Tooele Utah, Mrs Addie Barrus and Mrs Lister Hale of Afton, Mrs Rilla Bryson, Mrs Pearl Brown, Rose and Ila Hoopes of Fairview. The boys are Clarence, Ernest, Riley, Julian, Vernon and Jesse all live at Fairview.
Funeral services were held at the Fairview ward chapel July 11 at 1:00 P.M. under the direction of Bishop J.L. Brown.

Remarks by Bishop J.L. Brown. All speakers paid high tribute to Mr and Mrs Hoopes and their large family, pointing out their sterling qualities and extorting those who are left to be ever mindful of the advice and the example of their father who has gone on.
Prayer by Fred Brown.
Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery. Pall bearers were the following grandsons: LaVere, Byron, Wayne, Gordon, Verl and Lynn Hoopes.
The following granddaughters carried the many beautiful flowers: Verna, Lorna, Cora, Bell, Nedra, Gwenneth, Lila, Wilda and Marie.
