Jesse-beloved wife of Ben, mother to Audrey (deceased), Verna (deceased), Dorothy, Ruth (deceased) & Tom and two babies who died in infancy.

Jesse Florence Cox was born in Bristol England. She was the daughter of Frank Ernest Cox and Ellen Mary Jones. Grandma had many brothers and sisters, some living in Canada and some living in California. One of her brothers was a script writer for a couple of TV game shows back in the 60's and another brother (an electrician) designed many of Toronto's old streetlights (some of which are still in use).

Grandma and Grandpa were married on March 23, 1925.

Grandpa was a baker and his bakery was on Danforth Avenue in Scarborough for many years. Grandma and eldest child, Audrey, tended the store front while Grandpa baked everything from meat pies and bread to the greatest fern tarts ever made. Verna was known as "Buns"! Phipps Bakery was a neighbourhood mainstay for many, many years.

In their younger days, Grandma and Grandpa were speed ice skaters! And Grandpa constructed specially lowered kitchen cabinets because Grandma was under 5 feet tall - a tiny wee lass.

A fabulous Grandma - I'll never forget Christmas at Grandmas -tons of grandkids (my cousins - the Lyfords & the Lees), aunts & uncles. Grandma was a great cook and her dinners were fantastic, but us grandkids would always tease her and yell "Grandma - you make great gravy!!" and her eyes would sparkle and twinkle.

She was never quite the same once Grandpa passed away but was still the family anchor and so dearly loved by all of us.

Forever missed, forever remembered.
