Elmer "Hud" Akers, 86, of Dorothy Street, died at 11:30 a.m. today at Mary Sherman Hospital, following an extended ilness.
Surviving are a son, James Akers, Terre Haute; a brother, Lex, of Sullivan R 5; several nieces and nephews.
The body was taken to the Alexander Funeral Home where arrangments are pending.

Services for Elmer "Hud" Akers, 86, of East Dorothy Street, who died Tuesday at Mary Sherman Hospital, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home.
The Rev. Willis Ross will officiate, with burial in Good Hope Cemetery.
