OBIT: Funeral services for Darella Kay Rowden, 16, of Lebanon were held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 27, at the Taylor Avenue Church of God, with Rev. Raymond Davis officiating. Miss Rowden died November 24 in a one-car accident on Highway 32, eight miles east of Lebanon. Interment was in the Lebanon cemetery with services under the direction of the Holman Funeral Home.
Drella Kay Rowden was born February 19, 1948 at Lebanon. She had made her home since babyhood with her grandmother, Mrs. Nellie Dame. She was educated in the Lebanon schools and was a popular and beloved member of the junior class at Lebanon Senior High School at the time of her death.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior in 1959 and was baptized by Rev. Carl Peterson. She remained a faithful and active member of the Taylor Avenue Church of God until her death. She was vice-president of the Senior Youth Group, youth music director, a member of the Senior High Sunday School class and a member of several musical ensembles including the church choir.
Last summer Kay and Beverly Cole, a classmate who also died as a result of the same car accident, attended the Church of God youth camp on the Lake of the Ozarks where they participated in the camp choir and brought happiness to all as their harmonizing voices tuned together in duets. At the close of the week's camp, Kay was crowned queen of Camp Sharon.
Survivors include her grandmother, Mrs. Nellie Dame, her mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lindsey of Lebanon, two sisters, Mrs. Joan Hart of Lebanon and Mrs. Lois Cook of St. Joseph; and four half-brothers, Kenny, Denny, Donnie and Leon Lindsey all of Lebanon.
