A daughter, Nelda Alexander (1948-1965) was killed in a auto-train accident.

Juanita Beard Alexander, 86, died Tuesday September 11, 2007 at Kirby Hospital, Monticello. A private family graveside service is planned for a later date at Ingram Cemetery.

She was born in 1921, the third child of Henry and Elsie Martin Beard, Mansfield. She married Leslie Alexander, in 1942 at White Heath's Methodist Church. He as well as one daughter preceded her in death. Their four children and six grandchildren survive.

Mrs. Alexander attended Illinois State University for two years. She was a homemaker, a teacher and a 50-year member of the University of Illinois Extension. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting and encouraging her grandchildren and neighborhood children.

Memorials may be made to Monticello's Kirby Hospital.
