Mary was born to Lemuel D. ALGER and Mary Ann "Polly" GETT on Wed, 25 Nov 1840. It is unclear whether Mary legitimately married Alfred W. GETTS or not, but he is said to have fathered all three of her sons, Charles Robert ALGER, Noah Walter ALGER, and Samuel J. "Sam" ALGER. I honestly do not know if this is true or not.

Though I have a physical log of possible marriage information for Alfred and Mary as Sun, 8 Oct 1876 in Page Co, VA, I have not yet found any notes on how I obtained that information. It appears that Alfred, if he was their biological father, did not maintain a relationship with any of the three sons born of Mary Frances ALGER. There also is no life or death record for any of Mary's sons that identifies the name of their father at all.

Mary passed away on Christmas Wednesday, 1901, cause unknown. The span of her life measured exactly 61 years and 1 month.
