|The marriage of Friedrich Wilhelm Schumannn and Auguste Linde occurred 7 October 1860 in the Province of Pomerania in the former state of Prussia (in Freienwald, Pommern Preussen). The bride was 25 years old and the groom 27. The couple had five children, all born in Prussia, before emigrating to the United States in 1884 and 1885. The bride Auguste Linde was not actually born in "Germany" but in Freienwalde, Pommern (the German designation for the place) which is today known as Chociwel, its Plish designation - in 1945 it became part of Poland.|
The family emigrated in 1884 and 1885, some of them arriving on October 23, 1884 in Baltimore on the ship America from Bremmen: Friedrich 49, Marie, 21, and Friedrich 11 came together with 2 pieces of luggage; the older Fred is a "Tinmann," perhaps tintype setter. Anna & Elizabeth came on 25 May 1885 on the Westphalia; Augusta is not on either manifest.
