Maxine was born August 9, 1945 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Billie Mack and Elaine Denison Thornton (Mori). She was raised at Saltair, and Magna, Utah. She attended Webster Elementary, Brockback Jr., and was a Cyprus High School, and LDS Seminary graduate. She graduated from Hollywood Beauty College. She married William James Ross on August 31, 1977. They enjoyed nature, going camping and fishing, and watching movies at home. Jim passed away in January of 2006. Maxine loved family visits. Maxine was employed by Osborne Specialty Sewing in West Valley City for the past 39 years. She enjoyed sewing, and making her own clothes.
Maxine was preceded in death by her father and two sisters Eva Laraine and Julaine Brown. Survived by her mother, Elaine Mori, and brother Michael (Danele) Thornton.
Funeral Services for Joya Maxine will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Valley View Mortuary Chapel, 4335 West 4100 South, where Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and again on Thursday morning one hour prior to the services.
Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
