James Bert Tipton was one of three sons born to Hanna and Luke Tipton. All three sons died early deaths. Bert was a farmer and butcher. He died of pneumonia. He waited for Emily, his wife, to come back to Jerusalem and marry him after she spent several years in Philadelphia and Kennebunkport, Maine. He spent his entire life in Jerusalem while his two brothers, Joseph and Cliff left to pursue careers.
