Clifford Robert Thayer (1918-2001) was the son of Joseph Frank Thayer ((1889-1919) and Hallie May Linton (1891-1981). He married 11 Jan 1941 in Eureka, Humboldt, California to Viola Beal Smith (1906-1982). They were the parents of two children, Clifford Frank "Frank" and Patricia Andrea Thayer.

Cliff was an avid outdoorsman and tied all his own flies for fly fishing in Deep Creek, Lake County Oregon and he reloaded all his own shells for deer hunting on Crane mountain. He was Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lakeview, Oregon ward, Klamath Stake. He served as Stake Mission President in the Klamath Oregon Stake and he and Viola served numerous stake mission callings.

In his earlier years, Cliff worked as a butcher in the Adin, CA Merchantile store. He worked in the lumber industry in Willow Ranch, CA and Lakeview, OR. The family lived in Canby, Willow Ranch and New Pine Creek, California, and lived for near 50 years in the same home in Lakeview, Oregon.

On 22 Aug 1987 Cliff married Joyce (Terrell) Hunt and they lived in the same house on "F" Street in Lakeview until Aug/Sep 2001 when they moved to Price, Carbon, UT. Cliff died there on 1 Oct 2001. His body was returned to New Pine Creek to be buried beside Viola.
